The Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio (near Cleveland) will be home to twenty, five-foot tall garden gnomes beginning the Summer of 2011. The Arboretum is currently conducting a contest, whereby local artists who have submitted a gnome design of their own will have their designs considered for one of the twenty garden gnomes that will be produced for display on the Arboretum grounds. The completed garden gnomes and five other works of art based upon the garden gnome theme will debut during an Arboretum preview party dinner on June 17, 2011 and will be on exhibit through September 25, 2011. Each of the garden gnome statues will be available for purchase at the preview party through a live auction, with all proceeds benefiting the Arboretum’s Growing Students with Science program.
